The Wave Stage 3 (Metro)
The Queensland Government's Wave initiative, announced in March 2025 as part of the 2032 Delivery Plan for the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games, aims to boost connectivity and liveability on the Sunshine Coast.
The Wave Stage 3 (Metro) will deliver a high-capacity, high-frequency and accessible service connecting the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in Birtinya to Sunshine Coast Airport via key hubs including Mountain Creek and Maroochydore CBD.
By delivering this vital stage of The Wave, the Queensland Government is preparing the Sunshine Coast for the influx of visitors during the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games while providing a long-term, sustainable transport solution to support the region's growth and prosperity.
