Fast and reliable public transport

Vehicle technologies are continually evolving, and we are exploring vehicles from around the globe to shape the new public transport service. At the same time, we’re closely monitoring the market for innovative and emerging technologies to ensure the Sunshine Coast is equipped with the best solution for the future.

How can we make your public transport experience more comfortable and enjoyable? We learned from previous community engagement that accessibility and extra room for surfboards and storage for beach gear was important in a vehicle.

Half-baked solution. We were promised full rail to Maroochydore, not this.

Corridors should be preserved for: 1. Future heavy rail extension to airport & 2. Lightram expansion along costal corridor per SCLR

sunnycoasttransportg says:

The motorway corridor should be retained for rail as it is unsuitable for local service character of a busway. Denser areas need buses more.

Half-baked system unsuited for the limited-stop express service pattern of the motorway corridor. Send buses east + retain motorway for rail

Governments on both sides always doing things half-baked. It should be rail all the way. Changing modes last minute isn’t seamless but silly

Stages One, Two and Three of DSCL **must** be heavy rail. The Wave is another watered-down attempt for PT in QLD.

~60 separate commenters, ~50 of them demanding rail to Maroochydore as promised. Plan rail to Maroochydore, protect for future north, west!

BRT not fit for future, waste of time and capital. Too small, too slow, less accessible, not suitable for integration with heavy rail

Honestly this SHOULDN'T be a bus/metro but rather heavy rail. People can't transfer over with disabilities like myself just to change over.

Liam_Reed says:

Rail to Maroochydore! 2032 or not, must be done right first time. BRT not seamless with rail, not faster than rail, barrier to accessibility

The bi-articylated lightram as used on the Brisbane Metro would provide the most capacity and best user experience.

APa says:

We should be aiming for heavy rail for the whole corridor or at least provide full provision for rail. Also keeping the max speed of 160km/h
