Building a sustainable future

The Queensland Government partners with the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) to independently evaluate and certify the environmental, social, economic, and governance sustainability of major Queensland transport projects.

We integrate the ISC framework into our planning, design, construction and operational phases. This involves setting clear sustainability objectives, adopting innovative practices, and implementing measures to minimise environmental impacts, such as reducing carbon emissions, conserving natural resources, and enhancing biodiversity. We also prioritise community engagement, cultural heritage preservation and social inclusion to ensure our projects meet the needs of all Queenslanders.

  • By embedding sustainability principles into every stage of project delivery, we aim to create resilient, future-focused infrastructure that supports economic growth, improves liveability, and contributes to Queensland’s transition to a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
