Background

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is progressing staged upgrades to Gateway Motorway and Bruce Highway corridors in north Brisbane and southern Moreton Bay Region.

First stage - Gateway to Bruce Upgrade (G2BU) project

  • Upgrades to Gateway Motorway from Bracken Ridge to Pine River and the first stage of Bruce Highway Gateway Motorway to Dohles Rocks Road upgrade which involves upgrading Bruce Highway at the interchange with Gateway Motorway and Gympie Arterial Road, south of the Pine River.
  • TMR is underway with procurement for a design and construct contractor to be appointed late 2025, with construction expected to start 2026.

Next priority stage - Bruce Highway, Gateway Motorway to Dohles Rocks Road upgrade (Stage 2)

  • Next priority stage to install collector-distributor roads on either side of the Bruce Highway from the Gateway Motorway and Gympie Arterial Road interchange, through to Dohles Rocks Road, including two new bridges across the Pine River.
  • Preliminary design underway, further funding needed for delivery.
