Updated Preliminary Documentation now available

The Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail (LGC) project will increase tracks from two to four between Kuraby and Beenleigh, doubling capacity of the rail line and reducing waiting times at stations.
The project will also unlock additional train services to address the high travel demand between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and is a key investment to support the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As part of our planning and environmental approval process, from 12 March to 4 April 2025 the community was invited to provide comments on the draft Preliminary Documentation for the LGC project, as required under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) received 7 public comment submissions.

Each submission received was formally considered, with minor updates made to the Preliminary Documentation where relevant. These updates, along with the Public Comment Response Document – which outlines how the project has addressed the public comment submissions – were provided to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) for review. Following its review, DCCEEW has advised that TMR can share these updates and the Public Comment Response Document for public viewing.
