Landscape revegetation and design
The landscape revegetation and urban design for the project will:
- connect seamlessly from north to south, enhancing the journey and overall user experience
- acknowledge cultural and linguistic boundaries, celebrating the local context
- highlight north Brisbane’s unique identity by preserving visual connections to the surrounding landscape
- minimise environmental impact, ensuring a light touch on site to maintain natural environmental and hydrological connections
- contribute to the biodiversity and environmental resilience along the corridor
- strengthen community connections through an enhanced active transport network
- reinforce an integrated Gateway design corridor through consistency of design language.
Key features:
- 2 rest stops connecting with the new shared pathway for pedestrians and bike riders to use
- interpretative signage reflecting local heritage and environmental context
- retaining existing vegetation where possible
- revegetation aligned with the local environment
- selective urban design treatments that reflect the environmental and cultural context applied to bridges and other structures to enhance aesthetics and functionality.
A key project objective is to minimise disturbance to the natural environment, where possible. Read more about environmental management and features planned for the project in the fact sheet below.
