Summary

Protecting Queensland’s unique natural environment is an important component of planning for the upgrade to the Gateway Motorway, Bracken Ridge to Pine River in North Brisbane.

The Queensland Government has prepared a Public Environment Report (the report) in accordance with requirements set out by the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water (DCCEEW) (the Federal Government) under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) for the upgrade.

The report:

  • provides a project overview
  • provides information about the existing environment
  • assesses potential impact on Matters of National Environmental Significance
  • details environmental mitigations to minimise impacts
  • provides a proposal and offset management plan.

Further information can be found in the downloadable detailed factsheet to the right.

Next steps

Following the public comment period, we will consider all feedback received and incorporate it in the final Public Environment Report to be approved by the Australian Government.

Once approved, the report will again be made publicly available. The Australian Government will then assess the upgrades under the EPBC Act and make a decision as to whether they can proceed.

If approved, specific conditions will be set for the Queensland Government to follow.
