Bribie Island Bridge preferred design

As design work progressed, an opportunity was identified to move beyond the original two-lane bridge concept and deliver greater capacity, improved network resilience and a stronger long-term transport outcome for Bribie Island and the surrounding region.

The preferred design includes a new four-lane bridge immediately north of the existing bridge, together with improvements to the bridge approaches, local intersections and active transport connections.

The existing bridge is proposed to be retained and repurposed as a dedicated active transport connection for pedestrians, cyclists and mobility device users.
