B2N Stage 1 environment

The Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Rail Upgrade project is located in a unique and beautiful landscape that has significant environmental, cultural and heritage value.

TMR is committed to minimising and mitigating environmental and cultural heritage impacts wherever possible.

The B2N project team includes specialist Environmental and Cultural Heritage Officers who provide guidance and expertise.

The B2N project is classed as a 'controlled action' that requires ongoing assessment and approval under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

The project was approved with conditions in February 2022, in accordance with Part 9 of the EPBC Act.

Koala detection dogs Baxter and Maya — Did you know?
TMR engaged the University of the Sunshine Coast Detection Dogs for Conservation (DDC) to carry out koala detection surveys to investigate the presence or absence of koalas in the B2N project footprint. Here are koala detection dogs Baxter and Maya on site and at work for B2N Stage 1.
