The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is undertaking planning to make bike riding an easy, safe and enjoyable way to travel between the Townsville City Centre and James Cook University.

The planning project will establish a long-term vision for bike riding, with a fit-for purpose, interconnected and safe bike route between the Townsville City Centre and the University Drive underpass in Annandale.

The proposed 10.55km route will provide safer and improved connections for bike riders to:

  • education
  • essential services, such as healthcare
  • shopping precincts
  • sports and recreational facilities.
