Community consultation on the detailed design of Stage 1 rail stations and station precincts was completed in September 2026, giving Sunshine Coast residents an opportunity to help shape the look and feel of future stations.

The consultation focused on station design elements such as materials, colours, street furniture and opportunities for public art, with community feedback helping inform the ongoing refinement of station designs as detailed planning progresses.

To support the consultation, ten information sessions were held across the Sunshine Coast in locations close to the future rail corridor. These sessions gave community members the opportunity to meet the project team, view artist's impressions and station concepts, ask questions and provide feedback in person.

The consultation also included opportunities for the community to provide feedback online through surveys and project information channels.

While the Stage 1 station designs were more advanced, the consultation also sought initial feedback on future Stage 2 stations at Aroona and Birtinya. This early input will help inform the next phase of design development, with further consultation on Stage 2 station precincts planned for 2027.

Overall, the consultation generated valuable insights that will help shape station and precinct designs as The Wave progresses.

Consultation period was from Monday 17 August - Monday 14 September 2026.
