The Wave (Rail) project team has kicked off its 2026 Schools Education Program.
The program offers a range of project related learning experiences that align with the Australian Curriculum. Activities support learning across STEM, geography, HASS and the arts, while giving students an insight into real-world infrastructure projects and the career pathways behind them.
In-classroom lessons and excursions are available for students from Kindy to Year 12. These Easter school holidays we are offering two free activities at The Wave Project Information Centre at 1/33 Bulcock Street, Caloundra.
Places are limited and bookings are required. Parental or guardian/caregiver supervision is required for the full duration of both sessions. Additional activities may be available for younger children outside scheduled session times.
Wednesday 8 April 2026, 9–10am
Children will be introduced to The Wave (Rail) and explore rail, trains and stations through a hands-on art activity.
Using air dry clay and paddle pop sticks, children will squish, roll and shape their own tracks, tunnels and trains to bring their ideas to life. Children can also take their creations home to show family and friends!
Recommended for Kindy to Year 6 students. Spaces are limited.
Thursday 9 April 2026, 8.15–9.15am
Learn about The Wave (Rail) and discover how rail signalling and coding works using an Ozobot!
Ozobots are mini robots that follow lines and signals, just like trains!
Children will create their own rail track and codes to make the Ozobots spin, speed up, slow down and zig zag. They will also explore the mini robots’ capabilities on an Easter Egg Hunt.
Recommended for ages 5+. Spaces are limited.
Sunday 19 April 2026, 1.30–2.30pm
