Overview

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is planning for the future duplication of the Sunshine Motorway between David Low Way to just north of Yandina-Coolum Road. The project will help accommodate future growth and improve safety, connectivity and efficiency along this important 10km link.

Planning will investigate doubling the motorway's capacity from 2 to 4 lanes, including a median-divided cross section and upgrading the Yandina-Coolum Road roundabout and School Road intersection.

TMR will also consider provisions for the following throughout the corridor:

  • improved active transport infrastructure
  • improvements to existing interchanges
  • opportunities for new interchanges
  • Smart Motorway technologies
  • sustainability initiatives, including fauna treatments.

Design and construction timeframes will be subject to the availability of funds and competing priorities across the state.
