Overview
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is investigating options to upgrade the New England Highway and Back Creek bridge at Cooyar.
The New England Highway (locally known as Munro Street) is a key state strategic road with high volumes of traffic including freight.
Improving the safety and efficiency of the New England Highway and Back Creek Bridge will support economic growth in the region and a liveable community in Cooyar.

TMR sought feedback from the community who live, work and travel on the New England Highway at Cooyar to share their experiences and transport priorities for the:
- Back Creek bridge and its approaches
- New England Highway and Cooyar-Rangemore Road intersection
- New England Highway, McDougall and Fergus streets intersection
- New England Highway between Back Creek and Cooyar Creek bridges, including consideration for heavy vehicle pull over areas.
All feedback received will be used to develop appropriate solutions to improve safety and address community concerns.
