Overview

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is investigating options for a new motorway link (Kawana Motorway) between Parrearra and Meridan Plains. This new motorway will help cater for the growing population, reduce congestion and improve travel times and safety on other major roads such as Kawana Way and Nicklin Way.

This project will form part of a new north–south motorway (Sunshine Motorway, through the new Mooloolah River Interchange, onto Kawana Motorway, Kawana Way Link Road and Bells Creek Arterial Road to the Bruce Highway).

Change the Traffic light sequencing along Nicklin way would avoid congestion, it's terrible! Public transport lane NOT more roads!

BecB says:

This will also ruin even more of our natural bushland/wildlife in the area which needs to be protected, it's not all about cars! More Buses!

BecB says:

This is a ridiculous waste of tax payers money. Put this money into better public transport supporting more direct routes/frequent services.

These ridiculous ideas are ruining our Sunshine Coast. If you have all this money give fast and simple rail access to Brisbane instead.

Doreen says:

Roads on the Sunshine Coast are one big mess and any so-called improvement will involve more bushland/fauna/flora disappearing! JUST STOP!

No benefit in putting the road inbetween the existing homes. Use the existing bridge and create less harm to the natural environment and res

Build CAMCOS first! Mwy will increase noise and air pollution in surrounding area. It's an ineffective strategy compared to public transport

lily_lee says:

TMR should focus on public transport first. Kawana motorway will disrupt wildlife in kawana forest which is the least we want to see here.

Jon says:

TMR should focus on mass transit such as bringing forward the CAMCOS heavy rail and supporting rapid transit from Caloundra to Maroochydore.

Project has no place in 21st Century transport system Building more roads=existing population driving more Prioritise active/public transp't

CallumR says:

Public transport is an investment. Mwys are backwards expenditures. No Olympic region should put road projects over rail. We need CAMCOS 1st

CallumR says:

Building roads to fix traffic is like loosening a belt to cure obesity. I can't believe we still have this 1960s thinking. Build CAMCOS 1st.
