Overview
Gatton–Esk Road is a major route connecting the Lockyer Valley and Somerset regions, providing essential access for local communities.
The route supports significant agricultural and rural freight, including semi-trailers and B-doubles, and provides access to communities and facilities in the Lockyer Valley.
Sections of Gatton–Esk Road, between the Warrego Highway and Millers Road, are prone to flooding during wet weather, including at Lockyer Creek.
These closures disrupt local communities, freight movements, and access to properties and facilities.
The Queensland Government is investigating options to maintain connectivity between Millers Road and the Warrego Highway during major wet weather events, including at Lockyer Creek and nearby areas.
Community feedback will help inform future upgrade funding. Findings will be detailed in an Options Analysis Report, with planning investigations to be complete by late 2026.
