Overview

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is working to restore parts of the Cunningham Highway at Cunninghams Gap. Extensive damage was incurred following the Southern Queensland bushfires in late 2019.

The project is located in an important freight route and TMR wants to understand how road users travel through Cunninghams Gap. Information about frequency of trips and vehicle size will help ensure construction impacts are kept to a minimum.

The project is currently in the design phase, with construction planned to start in early 2022. Changes to traffic conditions and access restrictions are expected during construction. More information will be provided to the community once traffic impacts are known.
